On Saturday, I went with my dad Bill White to the Texas Reds Festival in beautiful downtown Bryan. Bill met with the people from Brazos County and sampled some of the best steak and wine in the state. Before the festival, the mayor first met with local leaders, including the Bryan mayor and city manager, to discuss municipal governance. They swapped stories and advice on budget strategies, historical restoration, and other local projects.

Bill then met with local activists who praised their Congressman Chet Edwards as someone who is able to reach across the aisle to get things done. Most people said they hope for these same qualities in the next Senator from Texas. "People from this area appreciate someone whose record shows they can get things done," says Tommy Dew a senior at Texas A&M who is majoring political science, "Mayor Bill White can bring that experience to the entire state of Texas."

Finally, we spent several hours enjoying food and drink with other folks in attendance at the festival. Thank you for such a warm welcome in Bryan at the Texas Reds Festival!
