Welcoming Veterans

We have a sacred trust with those who wear the uniform of the United States of America. Ensuring that the 1.7 million veterans in Texas receive the services they need is vital. That is why I supported Proposition 8, an Amendment to our Texas Constitution that will bring a VA Hospital to the Valley and help boost existing facilities elsewhere in Texas. As mayor, I created the Returning Veterans Initiative. This special initiative gives returning veterans the welcome they deserve with coordinated social services, reductions in red tape, and employment opportunities. As Texas' Governor I will work to scale up successful initiatives and ensure our veterans receive the respect they deserve.
